Working with Other Christian Clubs
What if there are other Christian clubs on your campus?
There are two schools of thought (forgive the pun):
1. There should only be one Christian Club on a campus.
The idea is that your campus should never see competing clubs on your campus, students should understand that Christians work together. This is definitely the ideal. Some feel so strongly about this that they think there should be one club no matter what. If someone else starts another Christian club, you should close yours down and join theirs.
"Pro"s: Together we can accomplish more and there won't be any rivalry between clubs. This is a great witness and forces us put aside differences to reach a goal
"Con"s: If the current leadership of the club has the wrong perspective or goals it can be difficult to change it. Some groups may even be narrowly focused, for instance, a "catholic club," a "Christian Athletes" only kind of club.
2. If there is one or more clubs that have a narrow focus or a bad reputation, start another club.
The idea here is that there are all kinds of churches for different kinds of people, there is no harm in having multiple clubs. This is never the best solution, but could be necessary according to some.
"Pro"s: It could be a solution to a problem that can't be solved otherwise. If there is a "bible study" Christian-fellowship based group, another outreach oriented group may be started without competition.
"Con"s: This is usually problematic. Competition and a lack of resources will be the result usually.

Always ask for the advice of one or more youth pastors in your area before deciding how to solve these issues. Maybe the youth pastors in your city can solve potential problems for you. Remember the scripture that says, "It's really great when Christian are together with the same goal (paraphrase)."
There is a time when having more than one club is essential: when your club meets at lunchtime and there is more than one lunch period. Having two clubs that work together with the same name, program and goals, but that meet at separate times is the way.
