Coaching
Everyone needs a little help. Campus coaches do just that. Instead of a youth leader trying to help very student and club themselves, usually poorly, coaching is a division of labor. Churches join together (usually in a network) and decide what churches will help each school.
Coach a Campus Club
A campus club coach is normally an adult leader/sponsor from a local church and is responsible for mentoring and empowering the students and student leaders of a campus club. He or she must be concerned with all Christians in the club, regardless of church affiliation.
To effectively help the campus club, the coach should know the components, the organization, and the actions of effective campus club ministry. For more information on how to become a campus club coach, and for tools to help your students excel in campus ministry, order the campus club_digisource, an all-in-one tool created exclusively for campus ministry from Youth Alive.
A campus coach should:
-
Be at the campus club on a regular basis.
-
Help support outreaches, fundraising and administrative efforts of the club.
-
Keep club leaders accountable for the content of meetings and provide weekly feedback.
-
Be available to be contacted when by club leaders when the need assistance.
Coach a Campus Missionary
Coaches are vital to the success of CMs. The campus missionary coach is a personal encourager, mentor, and trainer for campus missionaries. The coach may serve more than one student at a time.
The goal of the coach is to:
-
Make a one year commitment to the student.
-
Encourage the student in the five habits of a campus missionary.
-
Guide the student in the process of becoming a follower of Jesus.
Practical ways you can coach:
-
PRAY daily for each campus missionary.
-
ENCOURAGE each student missionary in words and actions.
-
MENTOR each student by regularly communicating encouraging messages to help the missionary fulfill her/his commitments.
-
PROVIDE the accountability each student needs to grow as a campus missionary. Help them report monthly on their progress.
The CM that you coach will go online and fill out a monthly CM report. They are responsible for designating you as their coach and keeping you informed of their progress. Every time the CM submits a report, you will receive a copy.
The coach provides the personal sideline support to make a missionary more successful. For more information on becoming a campus missionary coach, and for tools to help your Campus Missionary, order the Campus Missionary Digisource from Youth Alive.
